About the Owner

Papa Mac purchased this 1890s stone farm house and defunct dairy as a get away from it all. His personal Easy street. He promptly improved the farm house and added a studio and cottage. Soon after he added a pool, the first in the county. His wife, Edith, a painter, inspired and was the driving force to found the Hill Country Arts Foundation down the road. Along with assistance founding the art club and garden league, the family became a part of the area's history. Throughout the years multiple generations of the family have lived at Bumblebee Lodge and continued her legacy at the Hill Country Arts Foundation. R. B. McAshan purchased this House in 1945. It is currently owned by his 3 grandchildren, Rocky, Perry and John.

very roomy and clean. The pool is the best part of the house. we ended up spending quite alot of time lounging around it and it was a life saver in the summer.

This home had a grandmothers home charm to it. We enjoyed our stay and there was plenty of room for our family of 7 to gather and enjoy each other. The owners were very accommodating to us when we had an unplanned change to our vacation. We look forward to visiting again in warmer weather to take advantage of the pool! Thank you for opening your home to us.

Bumblebee lodge was perfect for two families picking up campers over a long weekend. There is plenty of room for everyone and the pool was delightful for hot August days. Beds are comfortable, kitchen was well stocked and there are plenty of towels, pool towels etc.
